Cissy smiled as Tibby approached, nodding at Delilah.
"See, we're good now. Things will be fine."

Delilah didn't seem too convinced by what Narcissa had just said. Ever since she had gotten here she had dissolved into a fit of apprehension and anxiety about every little thing, and she was highly doubtful that the arrival of little Maia was going to change that at all. In fact, she was sure it would only get worse
"Are you sure about that Cissy? Nothing's okay"

"Never been so unsure in my life, Delilah." Cissy replied with a sigh and a shrug. "But I have to keep telling myself that." It was true.. Things had gotten worse, for everyone. Everything was going wrong, and everyone was so unsure about every detail of their life... But they would have to suck it up. At least for now.

Tiberius grabbed Narcissa's arm, and rather haphazardly pulled her out of the room. It was totally unlike him to be so rough, but he was frustrated by this sort of talk that floated about all the women in his life these days, even if he did understand most of it
"Never mind her, she has a lot on her mind right now, between soon being a mother, and the owl she got a few days ago. Aiden..." He made a line across his throat, figuring he wouldn't have to elaborate on the fate of his sister's husband. But he wasn't finished admonishing her
"Tell me Cissy, do you think a man can be so deeply in love that he is blinded to betrayal right in front of him?"

Cissy let Tibby lead her out of the room, though it was not her choice. "Tibb-" She began, noticing he wasn't joking around. Her mouth dropped as he spoke of Aiden... Cissy had no idea. "Oh." She muttered, placing a hand to her stomach out of habit. She felt horrible... It must be so hard on Delilah. Though she wasn't the soft or loving type, Delilah had loved Aiden..
"What are you talking about?" Cissy asked, puzzled. What did he mean?

The sudden arrival of Aiden at the hospital was sure to raise some eyebrows, seeing as he was there unscratched and unscathed, dressed nicely, and seemed completely casual. His stomach churned as he neared the door of the room that he knew his wife was in. As he came nearer, he saw Narcissa and Tibby outside the door, talking.
Who gave a damn what they were to think of him showing up after such a long absence? He hadn't wanted to leave. Work had taken him away, and he had ended up dissapearing for a while. But, he was back, and he had heard of his wifes - no, their - child. He was counting his blessings that he had returned moments before the birth.
As he walked up to the door, he passed Narcissa and Tibby, and into the room, where his wife laid on the bed, alone, and clearly distressed. He had no idea that he had been proclaimed dead, so had taken no thought of any sort of shock Delilah would experience.
He was speechless, seeing his wife on the table, and realizing all he had missed. All he could do was walk over to the bed, kneel down next to her, and kiss her firmly on the lips.

She realized she should of been happy. This was a wonderful thing for her, it was something that was supposed to be powerful and moving, and well it just changed people. That's what they all said. To Delilah it had seemed like just another problem. Sour icing on a moldy cake if you will. All of that flipped like a switch though when Aiden came into the room and kissed her. If she wasn't so pain-stakingly aware of her surroundings, she'd pinch herself to make sure she was awake. But she knew she was, from the way she was assaulted by a torrent of emotions
"Aiden...Aiden, your....but they said....if I'd of known, I never would of did half the things I did"

Having no clue of the things that had transpired during his absence, Aiden breezed past the comment, thinking nothing of it. At the time, he was stuck in the moment, and very happy to be that way. He hadn't realized how much he had missed Delilah while on assignment until he saw her face.
Sure, she was the typical in-labor woman at the moment: sweaty, hair up, no make up to be seen, hospital gown, as big a belly as you could possibly manage. None of that mattered. As most men said, and most women passionately denied, she was at her most beautiful at this moment.
He instinctively ran his fingers through Delilah's hair, and held her hand with his other.
"Whatever you did, I'm sure we'll easily get past it. Let's worry about this right now."

She gripped his hand as if she was holding on for dear life, and did her best to let her apprehensions fade. In a moment where she felt abandoned the one person who she reasoned truly cared about her has swooped in and saved her from despair, and for that she was grateful. And by her reckoning not a moment too soon. It was almost as if she had been holding out for some kind of sign, why her labor was unduely prolonged "I'm glad your here Aiden, it's time"

"Ready when you are," Aiden said with a warm smile, still holding his wifes hand. It was sort of odd, all of a sudden being put in this situation. He had missed... everything. Yet, somehow, here he was, in this spot. In this spot, watching his wife give birth, to a child he was completely unaware of until just a couple days ago.
How many people got themselves into something like this? How many men were forced to hear about their new child through a contact, rather than hearing of it from their wives directly?
Not many, but he'd make do. He was home. He was happy.
