An Ashlee Tisdale song was blasting from the speakers. It was probably called fabulous, since that was the most repeated song. It was catchy; Nicole had to admit, even though she didn't think the girl was much of a singer. Her neat ponytail bounced as she moved through the large club, toward the bar.
Once she was there, Nicole sat her small body down on a stool. She tapped her fingers lightly on the table as the bartender lazily made his way over. The question she heard a million times came; 'what would you like'? "I'll take a cosmopolitan with ice, for now"
Hastily, the bartender dashed off to make her drink. A few minutes passed and a new song came on. If she was correct, it was most likely 'Ladies' Choice' by Zac Efron. She knew it was him because of the many times she watched movies he starred it. This song was even more catchier than the last one, Nicky realized. She was now practically dancing in her seat.
It probably looked weird, but to be frank, she didn't mind at all. When the bartender came over with her beverage, Nicole stopped shaking her behind and sat down to enjoy it. She played with the straw for a while before she took a large sip through it. The tiny cup was now half empty.
She grasped it in her hand and spun around. Now, she was facing all the people who were dancing. Or trying to. Nicole couldn't help but hold back a laugh once she placed her eyes on a man in his thirties. He was jumping all over the place, trying to look hip. Apparently, he didn't realize that he was making a fool of himself. Her next object of desire was a few meters away from the old man.
A handsome, young boy with brown hair. She studied his profile; the most eye-catching feature had to be -what seemed like- his piercing blue eyes. She definitely had to seduce him before the night ended. With the thought of her hands wrapped around his long neck, Nicole took the final drink of her beverage.

Joseph glared around the happy crowd of people. He heard Ryan move to his right, probably already on his way to hunt the runner. Joseph sighed, removed his sunglasses and put them into his pockets - hoping they would survive his trip into the crowd of people - and started moving through the dancing, kissing and drinking people.
The music was rather loud for his taste, but that was probably because he was not at all in the mood to party right now. They were hunting another possible dangerous being, whose identity was unknown to them. All intelligence pointed in the direction that it was a werewolf, but nothing was certain yet. A man, who looked and appeared older than himself, bumped into Joseph and almost tumbled him over. He regained balance quickly though, and helped the other man back on track. He was visibly drunk, and Joseph couldn't hide a grin when the man mumbled something about the floor moving beyond his control...
Joseph was headed for the bar. It was the most obvious place he could think of, and too he felt a bit thirsty - they had been hunting said 'runner' the whole evening and his throat was dry as sand. He felt a hand on his arm, and immediately knew who it was.
"Just what are you doing?" Ryan's whispery voice asked beside him. Joseph didn't bother look back and only pushed his colleague's arm away.
"Having a drink and checking the bar in the process, of coruse..." he replied a bit snappish and moved on, finally reaching the counter. "May I have a -" The bartender moved past him and on to a young lady at the far end of the counter. "Maybe you can -" another bartender moved the other way, again 'avoiding' Joseph. "I would like a -" again, the third bartender was gone and Joseph sighed annoyed, drummed his fingers on the counter and turned around. "Fine I get the message, then..." He scratched his chin, and eyed a woman to his right. She looked familiar, but he didn't recall ever talking with her - maybe he had spotted her at work? He couldn't help but stare absent-minded at her for a while, not noticing how rude it appeared.

She held onto the cup while her brown eyes scanned the dance floor. There weren't any others that appealed to her. Her eyes ran back to the location of the brown-haired boy, but he was missing. Nicole sighed. There went another guy.
She spun her chair around slowly. While in the process, Nicole noticed that another boy was staring at her. At first, she was scared by his glance. But, eventually, she gave him a faint smile and placed her cup on the table. Another song came on; this time it was actually a party song. It sounded much like Michael Jackson, but the voice was feminine. Perhaps Rihanna's song 'Don't Stop The Music'?
Anyway, her eyes drew back to the boy that was staring at her. After studying his profile for a little while, he looked much familiar. Perhaps he worked in her department at the ministry. After dwelling on the subject for a little bit, she decided to go over and ask him. So, she stood up and casually approached him.
"So, I take it that you like staring at other, gorgeous?" she asked with a playful tone. A girlish giggle accompanied the question. She studied his facial features once again. "Any possibility that you work at the ministry in the auror's department?" she asked loudly, trying to go over the loud music. It was safe to talk about these things here because it was a wizarding club, after all.

After a short while she noticed how Joseph was glaring at her. Actually it wasn't meant to be as rude and intensive as it had become later on, but he had let himself get lost in thoughts as he regarded her. She smiled vaguely at him and soon approached him after a while.
"So, I take it that you like staring at other, gorgeous?"
The feminine giggle that followed her question, made Joseph believe she was a bit of a party-girl and maybe a bit drunk. It only made him more positive in taking with her. She looked at him, apparently like he had looked at her. "You might be right," He said and grinned at her, pointing at the bar behind him. "Apparently they do not share your opinion about 'gorgeousness'." He chuckled as he realized one of the bartenders behind the counter had heard him. But he remained with his back turned at them, now as he was talking with her.
"Any possibility that you work at the ministry in the auror's department?"
He raised his right eyebrow at her question, regarding her while wondering if he had heard wrong. She had been trying to outmatch the loud music around them, so it was possible some of her message had slipped on it's way to his ears. He shrugged at first, turned toward the bar and waved at the nearest bartender, his eyes regarding her all along. "I've never been in that department sadly," he said and shook his head. "The closest I ever was to that was my one-year period as part of the Obliviator Squat - which is not very close to that, of course..." He reached out a hand toward her. "Name's Joseph Steiner -" He looked at the bartender, which was waiting with great impatience for him to make his order, and then turned his eyes at her again "- You want a drink as a apology for my stare?" His voice was joking, hopefully proving to her what he meant with the statement.

"The closest I ever was to that was my one-year period as part of the Obliviator Squat - which is not very close to that, of course..."
Then, this guy had to be apart of the ministry. After all, he was once apart of the obliviator squad. It was highly unlikely, but maybe they met somewhere else once? That was always a possibility.
Joseph Steiner. That name rung in her ears. It was familiar and Nicole was sure she heard it before. She just couldn't place a finger on from where. After dwelling on the subject for a few seconds, she decided to ignore it. Even if they met once in the past, they were meeting right now, no? "Nicole Taylor"
If this boy was about her age, then he would probably know who she was. The queen b*tch of Hogwarts. That was a title that Nicole held until her sixth year. That's when Narcissa and Bellatrix came to change things for the better. Nicole lost her popularity position - in return, she got happiness.
"You want a drink as a apology for my stare?"
"I'm done for now, gorgeous" Nicole said, pointing back at the position her glass had once been. She just shrugged with a smile. "I guess it's gone, now"

Ah, so her name was Nicole Taylor, was it...? The name was somehow familiar to him. And then it struck him; His last year at Hogwarts. A package and a troublesome owl, which let go of the package so that it hit him in the head. And two girls, one from his house - Gryffindor - and one from the house of Slytherin. And that was the very same girl he was facing now. So that was the connection!
"Nicole?" he asked, noticing how strangely false it appeared as he called her name - really, any stranger could just say that, a familiar, recognizing tone and pretend to remember her. But he did remember, and that was the key. "After all this time? Miss Slytherin?" His grin was saying it all; he was happy to see her, now that he knew who she was - even if they had only met briefly now and then. He looked at the bartender and smirked. "That will need something... memory-like..." he said and nodded determined. "Give me a butter-beer, then - it's also for the best, now I'm on duty..."
The term 'on duty' pulled Joseph momentarily out of the cozy feeling he had got by realizing he was facing an old comrade of his Hogwarts-years. And so, he turned around with the beer in hand, and soon found the glaring eyes of Ryan in the crowd of dancing people straight ahead. The stubborn fool was apparently watching him, while he was searching for the 'runner' between the people in the pub.

"After all this time? Miss Slytherin?"
What? How the hell did this guy know that she was in Slytherin? And why was he calling her Miss Slytherin? Was she royalty now? Not that she didn't mind, but it was a tad weird. "Huh?"
"What do you-" But it all replayed in her head. A boy called her Miss Slytherin in her sixth year. Could it possibly be this boy? No, that couldn't be true. It was just so...unlikely. "Wait - Joseph?"
Her voice rang with amazement. So much years later and they met again. "Are you effin kidding me, gorgeous?" she asked with a tone familiar to the one before. A song pulled Nicole out of her daze of astonishment. She instantly grabbed Joseph's hand and pulled him to the dance floor.
'It's Britney B*tch'
"I like this song," she said with a smile on her face. Nicole started dancing slowly, but sexily next to him. It sounded like something by Britney Spears, but wasn't she mentally sick at this moment or something. The girl probably started dancing because of her greeting at the beginning of the song. She just simply continued dancing as the song went into it's chorus.
'Gimme Gimme More Gimme More Gimme Gimme More'

Joseph regarded her with big eyes, as she slowly realized what he meant. His smile grew in size as she suddenly asked his name with a certain tone of recognition in it. She had remembered, it appeared - what a coincidence that they had met now.
"Are you effin kidding me, gorgeous?"
Nicole's next question was set in the same amazed tone as when she had said his name. He almost laughed at the way she now looked at him, recognizing the Gryffindor who got hit by a 'flying' plant and ended up on the floor - and this was actually the moment where she had entered, helping him back onto his feet. Well, Lorelei had helped him too, but that was just details...
"No I'm not kidd..." Joseph's reply was denied him, as Nicole suddenly moved, took his hand and dragged him toward the dance floor - presumably effected by the current song coming from the speakers.
"I like this song,"
It was at this moment that Joseph realized how much time he spend inside the offices of the Ministry, working, instead of doing something like... this. "Uh..." he raised his voice and leaned a bit closer to Nicole, for her to hear what he was saying. "You know... I can't dance!" He wondered whether or not his message ever reached her ears and if she even cared about that fact - she was having a great time, so why couldn't he have one too even if he couldn't dance properly? He watched her in fascination as she danced slowly all by herself beside him, caught in the music of the speakers, obviously enjoying every second she was able to dance.

"You know... I can't dance!"
Nicole was too caught up in the music to here what Joseph was saying clearly. She could recognize one word he said, which was 'dance'. Did he want to dance also? Well, if he did, why wasn't he dancing? Once she slowed down, her hair stopped flying around and her eyes were placed on Joseph. "What's wrong?"
As she asked the question, Nicole could faintly smell her Armani perfume. It was among her favorite perfumes and she always wore the scent whenever she went clubbing. Her eyes remained patiently on the boy in front of her. In her head, she tried figuring out what he was trying to say.
"What's Wrong?" She asked again, just in case he didn't hear her the first time.

He noticed she slowed down her dance, regarding him in some kind of wonder. Maybe she had not heard his statement - or maybe she had - now that she stopped dancing and had turned her attention toward him instead of the music.
"What's Wrong?"
Had she just asked that? She had said something, but he had failed to hear what exactly it was. She was probably just repeating the question, watching him with what Joseph recognized as patience. He waved his hands reassuring before himself and cleared his throat. "Oh, no nothing's wrong..." he lied and smiled faintly at her. "I was just... er... what the...?"
His last comment had nothing to do with Nicole. He had spotted something behind her, behind the crowd of people dancing. An young woman, black hair to her waist, standing there inly to disappear within seconds. That was her. The 'runner'. Joseph turned his head around, searching for any sing of Ryan to show up when they needed it.
He turned his eyes back at Nicole and lowered his voice, walking so close to her it felt... inappropriate. "I have to tell you something Nicole. I'm the head of the 'Being, Beast and Spirit Division' of the 'Magical Creature department' in the Ministry... and I'm actually at work, right now, right here..." he looked past her and swallowed, trying to spot the woman again. If she was indeed what he was starting to suspect, he would have to appear even more casual. He looked at her with serious eyes, having only one idea in mind. "I... I'm gonna do something a bit inappropriate right now, okay?" He closed his eyes and raised his hand like a shield before himself, and took a deep breath. "Don't fight, please..."
Following his statement, he reached out with his right arm and put it around her waist and pulled her toward him in a tight hug, like they were dancing. Or - as the situation was - just standing there cheek-to-cheek, ad he continued with awkward voice, watching everything that happened in the crowd behind her. "Uh... I... I'm sorry about that... I just have to make sure you can hear all I'm saying, okay? And to act casual while I tell you that. There's a... runner in here and I fear she's a vampire..."
