Name: Joseph Steiner
Age: 26
Job Applying for: Head of Beast, Being and Spirit Division
Experience: Several positions inside the Ministry; Assistant in the ‘Centaur Liaison Office’ in the Beats Division of the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, later part of the ‘Department of International Magical Cooperation’ and finally a leading part in the Obliviator-squat of the ‘Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes’ - until now, where he wants to return to the ‘Magical Creature’-Department.
Why should you have the job?: Joseph had been moved around the Ministry quite a lot during his past seven years there and thus he has tried allot, being a part of departments that specialized in field-operations and work behind a desk. He believes his new position will somehow help him further in his ultimate goal.
Sample of you in the job:
Joseph drummed his fingers on his desk, leaning his elbow bored against the surface of it. His eyes were moving down the piece of document before him, the very paper that had been assigned to him as he entered the office this morning. His first day as head of a department… He wondered what the day would bring, as he recalled the Head of the whole department calling this the ‘most interesting and active part of our department’. Whether or not that was true, remained to be seen… He didn’t bother read all of the instructions – he knew them already, as he had worked in that department when he started. Still, it was always a good idea to pay attention to guide-lines and such. But this was by no means an update to him.
He looked at the sunglasses to his right and grinned, reached out for them and put them on. Wow, he looked wicked wearing them – even if it was just plain – and for some wizards boring – muggle-made sunglasses, he still liked them with every minute that passed. And now, as his department also dealt with field-operations this would surely come in handy.
Hearing the door open behind him, he raised an eyebrow and chuckled. It was surely one of the most weird offices ever, having his back - and thus not his face and eyes - facing the door. This made him a very easy target, indeed… if there was any reason to worry about that at all.
“Steiner,” a deep and slightly grumpy voice called out for his attention, as he turned his chair around and stared at the imposing figure that Charles Gwardin made, his 6’9 in and his muscular build in mind. He reached out a large hand, and almost cracked all of the bones in Joseph’s right hand as the shook hands. “A pleasure to meet ye again, after all this time.”
“Charles Gwardin,” Joseph said and grinned, rubbing his right hand with his left, to try and bring some life back into it. “If that isn’t a nice visit from the past, then I don’t know what it is. How have you’ve been?”
“As always,” Gwardin said and hit his stomach. “I’ve not grown the least many fat since we last met… the wife and kids are still asking when you’re gonna visit us again.”
Joseph smiled, recalling his last visit at the Gwardin’s house somewhere in Liverpool some three years back. It was not his first visit, however, and it would certainly not be his last if everything turned out as he hoped. Charles was one of his first trusted colleagues inside the ministry, a true friend and mentor during his first years in the department.
