Arriving extra early to finish up some paper work, Aiden took a seat at his desk, took out a quill, and began scratching away. When he had graduated, he had thought that all the notes and pages upon pages of writing would disapear. Not so. If anything, Aiden had gone from wading in a bathtub of paper, to drowning in an ocean of it.
As he finished the last line on the parchment, half a dozen paper airplane memos came flying into the room.
"Christ..." he murmered to himself, instantly setting back to work.It was never ending, it seemed.

Bella approached the office of Aiden Bradford, being polite enough to knock before she entered. In her hands she held the reports of five new pranks. It was getting out of control. There had been a fire at a muggle residence that was determined to be arson, but no indication as to how it had started. The muggle family had died in the fire.

Aiden pointed his wand at the door, and with a simple swish, it opened, allowing Bella to enter. Lately, the sign of her hadn't been a good thing. It seemed the Magical Police had been overburdened, so the Auror office was expected to take to overflow. The Auror's hadn't been happy. A lot of grumbling about the petty assignments. They were supposed to be fighting dark magic, but as dark as it got were pitiful pranks.
It was hardly as glamorous as it seemed.
"Hey Bella," Aiden welcomed, rubbing his eyes, and leaning back in his chair a bit. Bella was hardly much older than him, and as such, he felt compelled to persue a more casual relationship, which some might frown upon, but made perfect sense to him.
"What sort of common police work have you got for me today? Anymore bewitched, overflowing toilets?"

"Bradford, this is not common police work," Bella whispered, closing the door behind her and locking it. "Look, Arson!" Bella raged, slamming the report down on his desk. "A muggle family burned alive. And the only thing they found suspicious at the scene; a bloody crowbar?" Bella folded her arms, and lowered her voice. "Aiden, do you remember a certain Cassandra Salvatore?"

"Yeah, the one locked away in St. Mungo's? I remember her all to well, Bella. Where's the proof this arson was magic-related?" Aiden asked, getting serious, studying the report.
"And what is the blood from? The burned victims? I find that foolish. Why bash them around with a crowbar, just to burn them alive? No, if this is what you think it is, those bodies will be clean of any wounds, and that crowbar isn't a crowbar at all. It's a transfigured dragon or something," Aiden said, sarcasm dripping from his tongue at the last line.
"Look, Cassandra was much more of a sadist than this. She's in St. Mungo's anyways, so what do you think it is?"

"Aiden, no she's not. Someone broke her out." Bella said massaging her temples. It was this bit of information that convinced Bella in the first place. "And a bloody crowbar is what she threatened to leave in my children's beds while we were all still at school. But if you're going to be as pig-headed as the Minister, fine."

"It's not a matter of being pig-headed. It's a matter of not being informed of all the facts," Aiden responded. The truth was, he knew that eventually a dark wizard would rise again. Well, he hadn't expected a dark witch. That was suprisingly rare, but nonetheless, what he had suspected had since become true. The dark side of magic had a void at the moment, and it was being filled, if Cass had in fact broken out.
"Ok, well, we'll start small. We need to wipe all the memories of the muggles. I'm sure you've already got someone on that. Is it well contained in Muggle media?" Aiden asked, contemplating who to assign the task of this job. The truth was, he was tempted to do it himself, but knew he'd want some back up.
Though he had a rocky past, he knew Alex Lewis would be completely uncorruptable. His loyalties lay with the ministry, it seemed, so therefore, his loyalties were with his boss; Aiden.
"Where did this happen, and how close to your children did it occur?" Aiden asked, pulling out a clean piece of parchment. He would have to get everything before he could begin.

"No, the muggle's memories haven't been modified. There were too many witnesses, so I contacted the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee, and they passed it off as an electrical fire. What ever that is." Bella said, recalling details. "We need someone controlling the muggle news. Some of the past incidents have been reported, but the muggles suspect nothing yet. It won't be long until they do though, they're not completely dense.
He asked about the incident with her children. "This was way back at school, right after I had the twins. She took an odd interest in them, calling her their 'Fairy Godmother'. After me and Corbin split, I let him take them, because Cassandra seemed to harrass me about them, not him."

Desiree, who had been listening at the side, now leaned against the wall in the doorway, her arms crossed. Having just become an Auror, she was slightly new to hearing all this grotesque stuff here and there and everywhere.
"Cassandra Salvatore?" she spoke out of nowhere, not even caring if she was invading something. She remembered the conversation so long ago in the Three Broomsticks with Cassandra and Michael...was that his name?...she had said - well, she had hinted - that she would be the new Dark Lord.
"I knew it," she hissed, though not elaborating.
